Smart Bird: Does this bother anyone else

Just asking.

Then today the President holds his “most important ever” press conference where he says he has no higher duty than to protect our election system ??? It appears he plans to be about to start something to make sure all the legal-only votes are counted again…

… and more importantly throw out all the ones he deems illegal.

BTW, his AG (Barr) said no systematic fraud found yesterday. His DHS Cyber Chief said election was most secure every. And no evidence has been presented other than he lost and he does not think that could happen. Nor do many of his followers. Listen…

Of course he has the support of those who think he was the “end times President”. I mean, you can not have the end-times President lose and stop the end-times from coming. Yes, this is a dominant culture in America today that I did not know about until this year. And they want to shape US policy to their views. And they are now.

“… televangelist Pat Robertson’s recent assertion that “Trump is going to win the election … and the fulfillment will take place of Ezekiel 38’s prophesy” are not about simply bringing Christian principles to bear on governance, as politicians have certainly done throughout America’s history; they are inserting Trump into the narratives of Christian nationalism and Christian Zionism (the belief that restoring the Holy Land to the Jews is a prerequisite to the Second Coming), respectively.”

“One of the problems of this mindset is that it creates an alternate reality — and also a permanent state of artificial austerity to fund schools and infrastructure and health care and have better lives, because we’re being treated like we’re in the middle of a world war that doesn’t actually exist,” says Sexton. In other words, policy decisions that would improve people’s earthly lives pale in comparison to those that continue the fight for American holiness. “We’ve been looking for apocalyptic battles because we believe ourselves to be the champion of God in the universe,” Sexton continues. “We’ve been fighting phantoms.”

And Trump, more than any previous president, has been egging evangelicals on in that fight, whipping up a fervor that will not go away no matter what happens in November. Whether Trump gets another term or not, America can expect the myth of the rapture to continue to influence U.S policy through his court appointments.

We can expect political losses, no matter how significant, to be challenged, because democracy is not as important as the supposed will of God.

Me: Who gets to decide what the will of God is?

Meanwhile in Georgia…

His opening line is… “I’m going to try to keep it together” . Those receiving death threats are Republican officials doing their job.

And oh sure, I had to stumble on this today.

Just great, I’ve been all over the top 0.1% financial coup (chart below), but now I find out some are working toward rewriting the Constitution. They already have it drafted.

Another book I don’t want to read, but probably have to.

The can achieve this by jerry-rigging a few more states to get the required number of Republican governors who can then call a constitution convention. And boom, we get a new and improved constitution that gets rid of those pesky checks and balances on power.

Hmmm, maybe we are getting close to the end times.

I do believe in the uniformed military. I only had to swear to support and defend the constitution about a dozen times in my career (from all enemies foreign and domestic) so it is engrained. And so it matters to me what is going on the next 2 months and beyond.

I think Gen. Milley is saying this today for a good reason.

Yes, all of that happened today and yesterday.

It appears to the culmination of 40 years of power and wealth concentration coming to a head on top of this.

Top 0.1% wage gains are not plotted below because it would mess up the scale so I circled it so you can not miss it. Since inflation is understated, I don’t think the 90% have had any gains since 2000. And note that the top 0.1% pay a lower overall tax rate than anyone else on the chart.

Some of the top 0.1% want to lock this in with some major constitution changes.

Just when you thought (hoped) it could not get more interesting.
